Patrick Reed Sues Brandel Chamblee And Golf Channel

Reed's lawyer tries to implicate the Five Families and was an anti-Saudi Chamblee supporter just a few months ago. Plus, Tiger arrives in style (!?) for the player meeting in Delaware.

Patrick Reed Sues Brandel Chamblee And Golf Channel

Recent LIV Golf defector Patrick Reed has filed a defamation lawsuit against longtime Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee. He’s asking for $750,000,000 million in damages.

Two years ago, Reed sent a cease-and-desist letter to Chamblee via attorney Peter Ginsburg, former lawyer to Hank Haney and Vijay Singh in cases against the PGA Tour. Reed is now represented by Larry Klayman, founder of Freedom Watch USA and a real prince.

Early into the complaint filed Tuesday and first spotted by Courthouse News reporter Cameron Langford, Reed’s lawyer offers this comparison between his client and Tiger “Wood’s”:

Three PGA Tour records on Tour!

The point of the case: Chamblee’s relentless criticism led to a vast conspiracy forcing Reed’s PGA Tour resignation after taking a massive check from Saudi-backed LIV Golf. Even though Reed was an independent contractor who has since taken a lucrative advance to leave the PGA Tour, he is claiming extreme injury and loss of income due to Chamblee.

Then there is this epic graph documenting some of the things Reed heard after his repeated run-ins with the Rules of Golf. Not the tightest lede but boy is it packed with good material:

The suit also tries to drag the Five Families in, minus any evidence of the major championship purveyors and the Official World Golf Ranking harming Reed:

Presumably the OWGR inclusion was meant to put the folks at Augusta National, the USGA, R&A and PGA of America on alert. Or maybe Reed is still fuming over in Singapore where he showed up at an Asian Tour event for LIV. Then slipped three spots in the ranking.

@USA_Golf_9 That Patrick Reed’s T31 finish in Singapore yesterday moved him from 46th in the world rankings to… 49th

Golf Channel and Chamblee will have to defend the key points related to the criticism of Reed. Depositions won’t be pretty for either side. Assuming it gets that far. But you must marvel at Reed’s choice of attorney. What a perfect brand match we must savor before this absurd case is sent to the legal trash heap where it belongs.
