Sixth green Sunday at Los Angeles Country Club

We made it! The 123rd United States Open at Los Angeles Country Club has arrived.

Given my role in the North Course restoration and job as chief George Thomas defender, The Quad will be a little different this week. I have a desire to watch as much golf (outdoors) as possible, meaning I’ll leave the normal role of aggregating, aggravating and analyzing of the social mediaverse to others. But I’m confident I’ll be able to deliver some not-too-drab insights from what should be a special week on a stage that will allow a wide array of players to shine. Especially since the forecast is brightening up (a tad) and trending toward weak high pressure potentially sending the marine layer home by midday during the tournament rounds.

Before some final pre-championship notes, here is my preview coverage of the 123rd United States Open at Los Angeles Country Club:

  • Q&A With Max Homa

  • Best Dining Bets

  • Best Things To Do In LA

  • Golf’s Longest Day coverage

  • North Course design evolution.

  • First and Second Holes.

  • Third and Fourth.

  • Fifth.

  • Sixth Part I.

  • Sixth Part II.

  • Seventh and Eighth.

  • Ninth.

  • Tenth.

  • Eleventh and Twelfth.

  • Thirteenth and Fourteenth.

  • Fifteenth and Sixteenth.

  • Seventeenth and Eighteenth

Podcast-wise, various discussions on the North Course, Los Angeles, George Thomas and who to watch for in the U.S. Open:

And while I couldn’t get the embed to stick, you can listen to The Fried Egg podcast with my five things and Andy Johnson’s five-ish things to look for.

We Have Flyovers!

You can finally view the full set and jump around to holes here at the official site, or just take in the full 18 here on YouTube:

And here’s a re-posted Fried Egg vignette on L.A. North. Keep an eye out for Monday’s Egg film on George Thomas.)

Press Conference Schedule

This is subject to change or see additions. Notably and wisely, Rory McIlroy is not currently listed. Wise move by the 2011 champion.
