ANWA Set To Go, Rankin Saying Goodbye To Majors And Tiger's Day Trip
Major season is heating up as is speculation of Woods' possible comeback at the Masters.
The women are ready to go in Augusta and Palm Desert, Tiger flew to Augusta for a round and the forecast is looking mostly great next week.
A mini edition of news, notes and TV times as we near a stellar menu of championship golf over the next twelve days.
Augusta National Women’s Amateur Gets Underway Wednesday
The new tradition unlike any other included Tuesday night’s reception and dinner at Augusta National, with round one set for Wednesday at Champions Retreat. Thursday’s 100% chance of thunderstorms is not ideal before the field is set to move to Augusta National for Friday’s practice and Saturday’s finale (once again set for NBC with details below).

A nice video from what looks like a beautiful evening in Augusta:
NBC & Peacock coverage begins Saturday at noon ET with Mike Tirico joined by analysts Paige Mackenzie and Trevor Immelman.
And for the first time there will be second round coverage from Champions Retreat Golf Club on the NBC Sports (but not Peacock!?) and Augusta National Women’s Amateur digital platforms Thursday at 2 p.m. ET. The two hours of coverage will feature holes 9 and 18 and of a playoff to make the final round. Weather permitting.
Rankin Set For Her Final Major Broadcast
With Dinah dying and moving to Houston as the Chevron Championship, longtime broadcaster Judy Rankin will also be saying goodbye Sunday night.
The World Golf Hall of Famer and legendary voice of golf television tells Golfweek’s Beth Ann Nichols that she wishes it wasn’t time to go.
Rankin isn’t exactly retiring at age 77. She’ll still work a handful of events in 2022. But this week’s Chevron will be her last as lead analyst for Golf Channel as she makes room for another desert darling – Morgan Pressel – to take her place.
“I wish it weren’t,” said Rankin. “I wish I felt 10 years younger.”
Thursday-Friday coverage will air on Golf Channel will air live from 12-4 p.m. ET and 7-9 p.m. ET.
Saturday-Sunday coverage on Golf Channel air live from 5-9 p.m. ET.
Terry Gannon and Grant Boone will anchor play-by-play Rankin and 2004 Women’s Open Champion Karen Stupples serving as analysts.
And don’t say I didn’t warn you, but they’re saying goodbye to Mission Hills and the Dinah in lame social media campaign called “The Last Splash.”
The Last Splash Sweepstakes – Ahead of the final round of coverage NBC Sports and the LPGA will execute a social media sweepstakes encouraging fans to tweet their favorite splash from Poppie’s Pond using #TheChevronChampionship and #TheLastSplash for a chance to win a piece of history. Fans will have the opportunity to win pin flags from Mission Hills and limited-edition posters signed by some of the best golfers in the world.
The Last Splash Challenge – Following the tradition of tournament winners taking a jump into Poppie’s Pond, NBC Sports will engage with a select roster of content creators including Josh Mayer Golf and other select influencers to kick off #TheLastSplashChallenge across Tik Tok.
